Farm Quail

Rare Breed Hen

The eggs are collected by hand and checked in the early evening, as quail tend to lay between 5pm and 7pm. Quail eggs have an attractive and delicate speckled shell with a light textured and softly coloured yolk, a delightful alternative to hen's eggs.

The Perowne family have farmed at Top Farm, Great Snoring in Norfolk for five generations, practising the highest standards of bird welfare expected by Church & Manor.

As Quail are classified as "non- indigenous", they cannot be kept in free-range conditions, instead they enjoy specially designed housing. They are naturally shy, timid and display a great sense of adventure. During the day they can forage outside or inside their spacious barns. By night they rest on straw bedding safe from predators.
